A Safer Table Saw
I watched a demo of this on (I think) the Cool Tools show on DIY Network. In the interests of safety they used a hot dog as a surrogate for a finger. Sure enough, they touched the “finger” to the moving blade and the blade immediately stopped. There was a slight gouge in the hot dog - which would probably hurt like the dickens - but it sure beats actually losing a finger! Here’s an article about it.
