Hiccups is an involuntary contraction of the diaphragm, the muscle between your chest & abdomen. Your vocal chords close briefly & the resulting sound is a hiccup.
Eat a tsp of dry sugar.
Drink water from the top rim of the glass.
    Google: mayo clinic>>diseases>>hiccups

the way that has never ever failed to get rid of my hiccups.
take a glass of water, close your nose (or just hold your breath), and drink the whole glass, dont stop for breaths. be safe obviously, and it has ALWAYS worked for me and anyone else i told to try it.

I think they are reactions when a containment gets into your lungs. I have no idea, the best way to get rid of them is take deep breaths.
