In recent years, tools have soared in popularity, due mainly to a series of television infomercials promoting one brand. Though it doesn’t receive the TV airplay of its main competitor, this model uses a durable 5 motor–the most powerful motor yet in a cutout –making it a great for professional drywallers, electricians, and carpenters. To help battle dust infiltration, the features a sealed motor and switch, a must for any serious drywall . It also sports a quick-and-easy, -free bit-changing system and comes with both 1/8 and 1/4 inch . We really like the bump-off switch for quick shutdown and the simple and effective -free depth adjustments. Like other rotary cutout tools, this one uses spiral cutting bits, which work equally well plunging into a cut as they do laterally. In our test we found the DeWalt to be smooth running with low vibration. We had no problem plunging and cutting through 1-1/2 inches of solid birch, wh

I hang drywall for a living and have accustomed myself to using the Rotozip for cutting out outlets, vents, etc. and got used to its lack of power and durability; until last week. I purchased the new DeWalt Cut-out tool and can’t believe the difference in power and comfort. DeWalt really did their homework on this one. It also has a tool-free bit change which is awesome. It makes changing bits quicker and easier and I never have to have a wrench around. Drop whatever you’re using and get the DeWalt.

The rotozip revolution is a lot of hype and not well constructed. I returned it for the DW660. This is a powerful and smooth tool in comparison. I think this is one of the better DeWalt products that I own. Hold on because it can take off due to the power(not a complaint). I wish the base was a little better constructed for use in cutting wood and plastic. There is no circle guide either, otherwise I would give it 5 stars.
