Think about the value of all of the homes in your area when making expensive improvements. This means that adding gold-plated fixtures is not a good idea if you live in a modestly priced area. What is the likelihood that someone will want to pay a ton for your home when others in the area are priced much lower? You want to make improvements that will enhance your home and make it more valuable, but it needs to stay in the same price range as comparably sized homes in the neighborhood.
