Question by jon s: Anyone know what the little cube magnet thing inside power tools are called?
Its the little cube or rectangular thing that gets worn down. I have replaced a couple from other power tools but I need one now but I don’t know what they’re called.

They’re called brushes, many hardware stores carry a selection of them. Bring an old one with you, as the difference in the various sizes can be very small.
PS- They’re not magnetic, but hey do conduct electricity.

Does what it’s supposed to,
I bought this for a very low price… so low, that I wasn’t sure what I would be getting. I must say, I’m impressed so far.
The tool is fairly heavy duty. Although it looks cheap and plasticy, it has a nice heavy feel to it and feels relatively solid. It comes with a good range of accessories including a few cutting tools and some sandpaper. I used a couple of the blades to cut some excess molding, and it performed as expected. The variable speed feature is nice, I’m glad I paid a few extra bucks for it.
The only issues I’ve had are that I have to really crank down to securely attach the accessories, or they’ll get loose. I have a feeling that this will be the ultimate demise of the tool, but it’s difficult to say when that would be. Also, a very minor issue, but the accessories box that comes with the tool box does not stay shut.
So for now, four stars with the above shortcomings. I’ll be satisfied if I’m able to get a few years out of it, given that I really don’t use this tool very often.

Much Better Than Expected…,
How could anything this inexpensive be worth anything!? I took a chance and I was totally and pleasantly surprised. It performed as well as anyone could have expected. I’m totally satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone.

Oh my-o-my,
I had one of these by another manucturer at twice the price. This unit is better built, has more assesories, and even comes with a nifty case to keep it all in. Lastly, and the best feature is this; my old unit died because the brushes wore out. This unit comes with a spare set of brushes. I suggest that when you swap out the original brushes for the included replacements, order another set or two of brushes because the hi-speed motor goes through brushes; seems like every 100 hours to me. Other than this, this gizmo is excellent.

Brush or Points.. Can’t remember.. Probably brushes tho..
Brushes, just be careful there is a spring behind them. Some come with new springs.
