Make the It’s (Not) Complicated Garden Tomato Cages

Completed Tomato CageMy wife is quite the gardener, and I certainly appreciate the fruits (or vegetables, as it were) of her labor. To me, there’s nothing quite as delicious as home-grown organic heirloom tomatoes.

It seems that every season, she comes up with a “better” idea for staking her tomato plants. A couple of years ago, she saw the movie It’s Complicated, starring Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin. In that movie, the character played by Meryl Streep had a breathtaking garden with some really great tomato plants, all supported by these simple but solidly-built tomato cages. This spring, she has asked me to build a few of these cages for her garden.

These tomato cages take just a few minutes to build, but they look great as you can see in the photo, and they should look even better in about three months with some hearty fruits on the vine. If you’d like to build a set of these cages, read the easy-to-follow steps in Make the It’s (Not) Complicated Garden Tomato Cages.
