A New Green Pitch for Panels

A new soy-resin particleboard has been introduced by Uniboard. The composite panel producer debuted its NU Green SOYA eco-friendly particleboard during the International Woodworking Fair in Atlanta.
NU Green SOYA uses a patented water-based soy resin formulated with soy flour and a proprietary cross-linking resin, providing a durable and water-resistant thermoset adhesive, according to Uniboard.
With no added formaldehyde (NAF) in the panels, NU Green SOYA exceeds CARB Phase 2 standards for emissions. Uniboard says the composite panel is certified for sustainability by the Forest Stewardship Council and also is recognized as an Eco-Certified Composite (ECC) by the Composite Panel Association (CPA).
"At Uniboard, we believe that environmental stewardship is not just about the future, it is also about the present," said Uniboard Vice President Don Raymond.
"It was a priority for us to meet the growing demands for environmentally friendly products," he added.
Made from 100% recycled and recovered wood fiber (pre-consumer), NU Green SOYA also can contribute toward points in the Materials and Resources as well as Indoor Environmental Quality categories in both LEED V4 and LEED NC-2009, Uniboard says.
