Keep Your Garden Free Of Bad Bugs

What can ruin any gardeners good work is the damage that can be done by insect pests in as little as a couple of hours. It’s disheartening to see all time and dedication be undone by ravenous bugs.

Naturally the best thing to do is not allow these unwanted insects into garden in the first place. The problem is, if we turn to the many pesticides available we run the very real risk of harming the health of our children and pets.

At the same time, by killing the unwanted pests you also kill the friendly ones. You don’t want to do that because you need all the help you can get in the fight against the bad bugs.

The bugs that can be best defense against the pests that want to damage your crops need to be allowed in, not killed off with the rest by indiscriminate spraying of chemicals. These gardeners friends, such as spiders and ladybugs, will help you by repelling or eating the bad guys.

Take the time to contact local plant nursery and find out what are the best plants to use to encourage the good bugs. By doing this you’ll be allowing them to help you by eliminating the bad pests.

For example, if you want a good healthy crop of tomatoes, plant some borage or marigolds around them and the pests will leave precious tomato plants alone. There are other plants that have a perfume the bad bugs don’t like and keeps them away… that stops them from doing their damage.

Another thing to keep in mind is to keep garden neat and tidy. The harmful pests are often attracted to piles of leaves, debris, grass cuttings and dense spots of weeds. Many of the bad pests can thrive in those areas, so weed your garden regularly and clean up any leaves and grass cuttings that find their way into your garden.

There are also some home remedies that will repel these damaging pests such as a hot pepper wax spray. The harmful insects and even some pests will be put off by the spicy oil residue this leaves on plants.

As long as you give harvest a good wash you can forget about any after taste. This will remove any traces of the spray before you eat your crops, so don’t worry.

There’s nothing worse than seeing all hard work amount to nothing at any time and it’s no different for gardeners. Don’t allow all your time and effort to go to waste by not doing anything to get rid of these insect pests.

So before planting your garden, do your research and find the best companion plants to repel the annoying pests and the ones that invite the good insects in according to your geographic location.
