Simple Home Improvement Projects To Make Your Day

You say you’d love to pursue some home improvement projects, but you just can’t afford it? Things like new windows and updated kitchens can hit your wallet pretty hard. However, there are many small changes you can do yourself that can make a world of difference. This article provides  some do-it-yourself home improvement ideas and  suggestions you really can afford.

Ideas for Home Improvement Projects

Kitchen home improvement projects

You can make those tired old cabinet doors look fresh and new with the addition of new hardware. It is not always an option to install and entirely new cabinet, so why not make a small change? Shiny, new hardware like door handles and hinges can make an old cabinet look entirely different. Most of these you can find in  your big box stores for a fairly cheap price. There are a lot to choose from, so be careful that you select some that complement the overall feel of the kitchen.

Spilled paint

How long has it been since you painted? It’s a great home improvement project for the whole family to get involved with, and it usually won’t cost an arm and a leg. If you have a room you think is too dark, you can paint it a bright color. The opposite also works, so keep that in mind as you select paint colors. Some brands of paint are more expensive than others, so make sure you shop for the highest quality that fits your budget. Paint that is too cheap will only make your home look tacky and cheap.

Window treatment home improvement projects

Since for most families installing brand new windows would be prohibitively expensive, new window coverings is the obvious next best solution. You can change the windows without paying a fortune by adding new window treatments. If your room is too dark, get something that lightens, and the opposite is obviously true for rooms that are blindingly bright – like TV rooms for example. The best thing is that it is a project that doesn’t take very long, so you won’t have to spend a lot of money on labor. Most, if not all of the available window coverings are easy for the do-it-yourselfer to handle.

Modern kitchen

After you’ve replaced the hardware on your cabinet doors, make sure to tjem a   thorough cleaning. Many times cabinet doors accumulate a lot of residue and they start to look old. Get a scrub brush and a cleaning solution (green, if possible – there’s a lot of food around your cabinets), and get started. In some cases, a good cleaning can change the entire color of the wood. You might be surprised to find your cabinets start looking like new! This can dramatically change your home and it costs next to nothing.

Faucet

Updated faucets are a great way to modernize your home without paying a ton, and the selection nowadays is absolutely incredible! You really don’t need to have a new sink installed, instead, you can work on adding a new faucet and changing the look of your vanity or kitchen sink entirely. This will give you the new look you want without doing a major overhaul, and you may find your plumbing woking better than ever. Since this is not a very hard job, you can do it yourself without having to pay a contractor to do it for you. Especially if you get complete kits so you don’t have to make 10 trips back to the store for parts.

Paint or stain all of the doors in your home. A shiny new coating on any door can make your home look very drab. If you have pets and/or children, your doors are probably filled with all type of stains. Dogs always brush up against doors while going in and out, and children often have messy or dirty hands when the use doors.  Painting them will make them look so much better it may surprise you, and it is much cheaper than buying and installing a brand new door put.

Making home improvement can add to the appeal, but you don’t want to do that if it is going to leave you penniless. The DIY home improvement project ideas revealed here can improve your space while keeping your money in your wallet where it belongs.
