Small on size BIG on POWER!., November 21, 2013

I have nothing bad to say about this drill. Its power will surprise you!. This thing has no trouble drilling though smowblower housings and commercial riding mower frames at all. It has a two speed gearbox with an adjustable clutch that can be locked for drilling. The front LED light might seem small but it does a good job of lighting up your work area. The trigger has a variable power output which makes it easy to keep things under control while using the tool. The fuel gauge makes it easy to keep an eye on the battery life.

As for the chuck that comes with the drill, that also get five stars. It really locks down the bit and even has a ratchet mechanism to keep the bit tight. The chuck is also all metal. Everyone else seems to use plastic on the chucks cover or “grip”.

The handle has a nice feel to it. It fits my hand like a glove and has plenty of grip. As for the battery life. I can’t comment on that because I really don’t do allot of drilling in my line of work. I’m a small engine tech, so when I need to drill something its usually a broken bolt or screw or to install a weight kit on a snowblower or ride on mower. However I bought this 2407-20 drill/driver along with the 2462-20 1/4 inch hex impact driver. I use that impact driver everyday, I usually get about 3 days on a full charge with the regular M12 battery. With the M12 2.0 battery I can get just about 5 days from one charge.

I’m not using the impact gun to drive screws into decks or fences. Just to disassemble and reassemble machines and small engines. The largest nut diameter I have removed with the 1/4inch impact gun is 9/16. But the average size I use the tool on is 5/16, 3/8 / 10mm and 1/2 inch.

Update as of 2/6/15 Originally both battery and charger went bad. Did online search to find out Milwaukee has an issue with 12V battery run in the past. Went to the local Milwaukee service center in San Diego on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Incredibly helpful service. Got the battery and the charger replaced after filling out a brief form and out the door. I own many 18V Milwaukee power tools and never, ever had a problem with them, but it is nice to know that Milwaukee will stand by all of their products with minimum hassle to there customers.

five stars for the strongest and best made 12v drill i have ever used ( dewalt, bosch). i am an electrician and this drill has what it takes for construction, and light weight for more delicate jobs at a price that cant be passed up. very happy and havnt had any problems so far with power. it goes with my m12 fuel impact perfectly.
