This kit is not up to contractor standards. I have been a loyal and satisfied Makita customer through the years. I have a Makita reciprocating saw, two sanders, a chain saw battery powered impact driver and hammer drill that I have been perfectly happy with. I bought this combo kit thinking that it would be convenient to have a battery powered reciprocating saw and circular saw as well as back-ups for my existing battery powered tools as well as to replace some tools and charger that had been stolen. I’ve been sorely disappointed. The reciprocating saw is flawed in two respects. There is no “bite” selector and the trigger switch is so sensitive that it is impossible to operate at slower than full speed which results in burning through rather than cutting through materials. The circular saw is a toy. It is terribly under-powered to the point of being worthless except in cutting soft or thin materials. The drill is a joke compared to my Makita BHP451. I haven’t yet used the impact driver but it is a different model than my old Makita BTD140. The light is fine. The grinder is the tool I am most pleased with though I really didn’t buy the kit for that item. In short, Makita has tried to hit a price point with this kit and had included a group of tools that are of a significantly lower quality than I have come to expect from their brand. I use these tools to make my living. If I can’t rely on a brand, I will switch – that simple.

Makita is switching it’s batteries to 4.0 a/h from the 3.0 and this kit, the XT is capable of using either. I have not researched all the tools included in this set to insure that they do. The older set, LXT are NOT capable of using the newer batteries.
Makita is still one of the best battery powered tools to be bought for the money.

Love makita tools. Great for a home owner that needs reliable tools. The bag is very sturdy and well made, easy to bring with you for projects at the neighbors house. Would be nice to have it a little more compartmentalized to keep the tools organized and not all over each other but that’s just me being nit-picky. Great buy, very satisfied.
