The best push-block in the world, possibly for decades, August 28, 2015

With any tool, safety features are always the first thing I consider before making a purchase. And while my dewalt table saw allows a pretty narrow cut even with the anti-kick/blade guard attached, a 1/4″ cut just isn’t possible with those attachments– putting my hands and my life in danger.

The very first cut I made using this stellar product, my narrow cut came out absolutely perfect. This type of precision cut can only be done when you are confident in the setup you’ve prepared prior to the cut. The grr-ripper gives you all the control, down-pressure, and of course confidence to make extremely risky cuts a walk-in-the-park.

The block has substantial weight which surprised me because it appeared to be somewhat cheap plastic from the demo videos. But all the edges were sharp, accurately flat, and had none of that extra excess plastic that you usually see with poor production using inferior plastic. The quality is there, Id say it definitely lives up to the statement of being made in the U.S. The gripping rubber has an insane amount of traction, so much that if you ran full speed and dropped the grr-ripper while firmly holding on the handle, the grr-ripper would come to a dead hault launching you forward head first, not exaggerating–this thing friggin’ grips, regardless of material. Also, knowing that a thin workpiece isn’t going to suddenly tilt the block into the blade is a godsend, the stability support is a win. My only gripe is the keeper/center leg, adjustments can be a bit finicky as it isn’t smooth. There is resistance when adjustments are required, found myself rocking it left and right which then would cause the center support to be too much or too little, a dab of grease fixed it however. Simply put, there is no better and safer pushblock on the market than the grr-ripper from Micro Jig. Anyone who works with power tools that has the potential to cause permanent handicap injury or death needs a few of these close-by, it’s worth a try–though I doubt you’d return it.

Excellent, excellent innovation and product, I’m a convert. Thank you Micro Jig, for saving peoples lives and common sense.

I bought this to help with a carpentry project where I was dealing with a lot of long rips on thin material. I needed consistent 45 degree angles down the length of 3 foot trim strips.

Without this, I (a) would not have had as good an outcome as I had and/or (b) would have difficulty typing this with my 8 remaining fingers!

The jig pulls hour hand well above the stock, accommodates just about any cut you will throw at it, and is great at keeping an even pressure right near the blade to keep your cuts consistent and reduce the risk of the stock drifting from the fence.

It also comes with an ideas DVD that I found interesting in that it showed options for using the jig beyond a tablesaw – routers, jointers, etc. Worth the watch.

I will be returning for a second so I can use the ‘leapfrog’ technique to keep the material advancing without having to continually release pressure to re-position the jig

In the photos you can see the ‘during’ and ‘after’ views of a newel post project I just completed using the GRR-Ripper to keep the material under consistent pressure and moving along a table saw to produce clean 45’s all the way down the length of the panels. The results speak for themselves.
